Composition of the Commission 

The Commission consists in terms of section 2 of the LRDC Act as amended, of the following members:

 The Chairperson

The Ombudsman

One Legal Practitioner appointed by the President after consultation with the Law Society of Namibia

One staff member nominated by the Minister of Justice and appointed by the President

One person in full-time lecturing capacity at the Faculty of Law of the University of Namibia, appointed by the President after consultations with the Vice-Chancellor

Not more than three persons appointed by the President after consultations with the Minister, who are suitable on account of any qualification relating to the objects of the Commission.

Members of the Commission 

The members of the Commission as at July 15, 2004, were the following:

Mr U D Nujoma (Chairperson : Full time)

Adv. J R Walters (appointed Ombudsman from 1 July 2004)

Mr A Vaatz (Legal Practitioner)

Ms L Conradie (nominated by the Law Society of Namibia)

Ms N N Shivute (Deputy Chief : Lower Courts in the Ministry of Justice)

Mr S K Amoo (Lecturer at Law Faculty of University of Namibia, nominated by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia)

Mr T Kamuhanga-Hoveka (Legal Practitioner)

Ms M Samson (Legal Adviser in Office of the Attorney-General).

Mr J R Walters (Ombudsman)

The Secretary of the Commission is Mr. J T Namiseb , who heads the Directorate of Law  Reform (an organizational component) in the Ministry of Justice.
